Decorating: Layering Area Rugs (And A Peek Of My Living Room)

Today I’m sharing a peek at our in-progress living room design! I’ve been working on the design of our living room since we moved in last March. While the room is spacious, it’s also been a challenge to decorate since it’s a giant rectangle and we don’t have that much furniture. I knew I needed an area rug to cover the ugly carpet near the sofa and make it feel a little cozier. When searching for ideas online I kept coming across the new trend of layering area rugs and thought I’d try it out myself. Our coffee table was floating in the middle of the room, so this small vintage area rug from Medallion Rug really helps anchor it. We are on the hunt for a new coffee table (I’m almost embarrased to show you this one!!!) – but it’s on the bottom of my home wish list. Our new Moroccan Wedding Blanket is my very favorite thing — usually its on our guest room bed away from Sullivan but for special occassions it makes an appearance on our couch!
