DIY: Vintage Plate Stand for DailyBuzz Style 9×9 Challenge

This is one of the easiest and cheapest DIY projects I’ve ever done – I almost feel silly for posting a tutorial on it! This month DailyBuzz Style challenged bloggers to share a way to organize jewelry. My dresser/bathroom/nightstand are covered with baubles I decided this long weekend was the perfect time to try to get organized. I’ve seen a variety of tutorials for this project on Pinterest and since I already use vintage saucers to collect my jewels, this vintage stand fits perfectly to showcase and hold my jewelry.

You can really get creative with this project, I used all vintage items I picked up at the thrift store but you can use what you have on-hand, or buy new plates and candlesticks to match your decor. I love the vintage feel these plates had, and the black is a great accent for our room. You’ll want two different size plates/saucers and be sure to play around with the height of your candlestick to ensure there is enough space between (as much or as little as you want).

I used a brass candlestick for this stand but glass also works and looks great (I’m making a matching one for my sister using this one). Start off by washing and completely drying your pieces.

Outside, or in a well-ventilated area apply a thin layer of glue to the base rim of the candlestick and secure in the center of your larger plate. Let it sit for about ten minutes before applying a thin layer to the top rim and securing the smaller plate to the top. Let dry for 24 hours.

Voila, a tiered stand for your jewelry! I’ve also seen similar stands used to hold makeup, perfume and even in the kitchen as a stand for soap and sponge. I love how the top fits bracelets perfectly and long earrings can be displayed. Be sure to let me know if you try making one, I’d love to see how it turns out!
